For the first time in the medical history of Manipur, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) was implanted successfully in the heart of a 58 year old patient called Basanta at Sky Hospital on February 12 .
Speaking to media persons at the hospital today, Basanta of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai said that patients in need of ICDs implant face lots of inconveniences till recently as hospitals in Manipur did not have the equipment for implanting ICD and they were compelled to go outside the State at the cost of huge expenditures.
