KPI/Imphal, February 17 2015:
The JAC on Kadangband killing is set to go ahead with its proposed 5 days economic blockade on all National Highways from this midnight.
At the same time, apart from other Kuki civil bodies in Sadar Hills, the Kuki Students' Organisation, general headquarters (KSO-Ghqs), Zillai (Vaiphei Students' Association) Ghqs and TSA Sadar Hills have also announced their decision to endorse the JAC's economic blockade today.
Thangminlen Haokip, convener of the JAC stated that the protest will go ahead as announced since there is no intimation and positive response from the State Government in spite of the JAC's resolve to protest the alleged State Government's failure to table the magisterial enquiry report in 15 days time.
He continued that the JAC had made it clear to the Government to furnish the enquiry report within 15 days but the Government has failed to establish the fact behind the alleged fake encounter.
"We agreed for magisterial enquiry in lieu of a judicial probe with a view to facilitate immediate commencement and speedy completion of the enquiry," Thangminlen said.
"However, the Government's apathy towards the JAC's gesture by delaying the enquiry is hurtful to our sentiment," maintained Thangminlen Haokip.
The JAC is very much aware of the ongoing HSE and HSLC examinations, he said while assuring that no disturbance would be caused to the candidates in their transportation.
The JAC further appealed to all the State and inter-State transporters to pay heed to the blockade call and abstain from any act of defiance that would aggravate the prevailing tension while also seeking the support of the public in its quest for justice.
Meanwhile, Kuki Students' Organisation, general headquarters (KSO-Ghqs), TSA Sadar Hills and Zillai (Vaiphei Students' Association) general headquarters in separate statements announced support to the JAC's economic blockade.
The KSO Ghqs in a statement issued by its information secretary, Laxmon Serto appealed to all social organizations, individuals and right thinking citizens of the State to join hands and support the JAC's endeavour in finding the truth and justice.
Moreover, it directed all its branches in the hill districts to ensure the 5 days economic blockade ended successfully.
Information and publicity secretary of Zillai, Minlian in a statement said that the students' organisation supports the agitation because one innocent, Khupneilal Neihsial was killed by Assam Rifles personnel.
