Imphal, July 15 2018:
In an attempt to provide healing touch to lives of local ladies who are suffering on account of various social issues, HQ 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), in co-ordination with All Tribal Women Organisation (ATWO), organized an excursion tour for ladies who are affected by domestic violence.
The one day long excursion was flagged off by Brig A S Chauhan, Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles on 15 July 2018 .
As part of the trip, 48 ladies including children visited places of interest in Ukhrul including Siroi Hills.
The excursion trip was aimed to break the social and psychological barrier and act as an emotional therapy for such ladies.
26 Sector of Assam Rifles has been providing help and support to women who have been victims of domestic violence and other social issues.
Interacting with the affected ladies and ATWO functionaries, Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles encouraged them to take up skill development for self-employment.
From March to June this year, Assam Rifles had conducted a three month long Skill Development Training on tailoring for five such ladies at its Integrated Family Welfare Centre under the aegis of USHA Sewing School.
On the occasion, certificates of qualification were also awarded to the attendees by the Chief Guest Brig A S Chauhan.
