Poiroukhongjin High School today defeated Brighter Public School, Andro by 2-1 goals to become the U-17 Girls' champions of the Imphal East District Level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2018 being organised by District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Imphal East at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak.
Ph Sanathokpi Devi scored both goals for Poiroukhongjin High School while Ph Nirmala scored the lone goal for the Brighter Public School in the final match held today.
Sanathokpi broke the deadlock in the 35th minutes after a slow start from both sides while Nirmala hit the equaliser a couple of minutes latter.
Ph Sanathokpi who was in prolific form made her second strike and found the net in the 45th minute to help Poiroukhongjin High School regained the lead.
The Andro side tried hard to put the equaliser but their attempts proved too feeble to the defence set up of the Poiroukhongjin High School.
Ultimately the game ended 2-1 in favour of Poiroukhongjin High School.
Ch Iboyaima HS to meet Afros Hr SS in U-17 boys final Ch Iboyainia High School beat Afros A Higher School Secondary School by a slender 1-0 margin to set up U-17 boys' summit clash with Bright Career Academy, Lamlai who thrashed Goodwill Christian High School on July 17.Ch Iboyaima High School banked on Marwin's 16th minute strike to seal the 1-0 win against Afros A Higher Secondary school today in the first semi-final match and booked a place in the final.
The second semi-final match saw Naocha and Poireiton run riot over Goodwill Christian High School to ensure Bright Career Academy notch up a dominating 7-0 victory.
Naocha opened up the scoring early in the second minute before completing his brace in the 33rd minute.
His compatriot Commander scored the second goal in the 11th minute while Poireiton hit the third in the 18th minute.
Poireiton was at it again in the 23rd minute when he made a fine run into Goodwill Christian High School's box and banged in a power-packed shot to make it 4-0.With the lustreless Goodwill Christian High School showing no sign of return, Poireiton easily breached opponent's defence and fired his third and his team's 6th goal in the 43rd minute while his team mate Priyanda was able to tap in a single in the 48th minute and completed the 7-0 rout of Goodwill Christian High School.
Oriental English High School face Unique Model Academy in U-14 boys' final Unique Model Academy thumped Ch Iboyaima High School 2-0 in the first semifinal of U-14 boys competition to book the final berth while Oriental English High School edged out Goodwill Christian High School by 2-1 goals and cruised into the final.
Kh Sanamacha scored the first goal for Unique Model Academy in the 8th minute while the last goal was scored by H Kiran in the 35th minute.
In the second semi-final match, Oriental college enjoyed an early 2-0 lead through goal scored by Sanathoi (7') and Robinson (16') until Raju of Goodwill Christian High School found a single through Raju in the 39th minute.
The game ended 2-1 in favour of Oriental English High School despite rigorous attempts from Goodwill Christian High School.
Unique Model Academy will clash for the top honour against Oriental English High School on July 17 .
