Progress reports of projects/schemes announced by the Prime Minister for Manipur were reviewed during a meeting between DoNER Secretary Jarnail Singh, officials of relevant Union Ministries and the State Government at New Delhi today.
The review meeting took strong exception to the inordinate delay in constructing hospitals having capacity of 50 beds at Tamenglong and Ukhrul in addition to the failure to utilise larger share of the sanctioned amount.
The meeting mooted ceasing further release of fund in case the State Health Department fails to act according to an action plan.
Construction of hospitals having capacity of 50 beds at Senapati, Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Jiribam was announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Imphal in November 2006.Subsequently, Rs 18 crores were released for the same purpose.
Nonetheless, the meeting appreciated progress of the railway track laying work from Jiribam to Imphal via Tupul.
It deliberated on accelerating land acquisition process in order to complete the railway project within the stipulated period.
Other agenda of the meeting which was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) DS Poonia included Tipaimukh Project, NIT, irrigation projects, Capital complex and the city development plan.
Meanwhile, another high level meeting held under the aegis of the Union Home Ministry at New Delhi today studied the procedure of handing over terrorism related cases, already taken up by State Governments to national investigation authority.
The meeting was attended by Home Secretaries and DGPs of different States.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar and IG (Intelligence) LS Khoute represented the State Government at the meeting.
