Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat has announced that for the first time a medical mobile unit comprising specialist doctors from Shija Hospital as well as doctors and staff of Rural Health Mission would be pressed into service to take care of the medical needs of the people in different parts of Imphal East district.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of newly constructed Primary Health Sub-Centres and Primary Health Centres at Sanjenbam, Nongren, Tellou-Chana and Yaingangpokpi under Lamlai Assembly Constituency today, Parijat informed that the proposed medical mobile unit which would have facilities for X-ray and ECG test among other required medical equipments and medicines would visit different parts of Imphal East district in two vehicles and cater to the medical needs of the people.
Though a nominal fee would be charged only in name sake, the result of the X-ray and other tests for diagnosis taken by the specialist doctors of the medical mobile unit would be made available instantly and necessary medicines would be provided to the patients, the Health Minister said, adding that necessary arrangements have been made to make the medical mobile unit operational within 15 days.
Informing the gathering that there would be no doctor at the Primary Health Sub-Centres constructed under the funding of National Rural Health Mission and these health centres would be ran by the ANM and other Female Health Workers with the help of ASHAs, the Minister explained that the main responsibility of a sub-centre is to prevent possible illness and provide immediate health relief like first aid while in Primary Health Centres there would be doctors to look after the treatment of the patients.
He also informed the gathering that every year the Government would be providing Rs 10,000 and Rs 2 lakhs respectively to Primary Health Sub-Centres and Primary Health Centres for maintenance and other needs.
Director of Health Services Dr W Motilal, Director of Family Welfare Sh Raghumani and Chief Medical Officer of Imphal East Ksh Manglem were also present at the occasion.
