Imphal, June 12 2009:
State health and family welfare minister Ph Parijat today said that the public health sub-centres of the state government will be clearly look after by the family welfare department to bring an end to the controversy in the administration these centres between the state health and family welfare department.
The minister, speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the three PHSCs and one PHC in Lamlai Assembly constituency further said that PHSCs are not like hospital, these are the centre which would deal with the prevention of spreading of epidemic, attending first aids for minor injuries, for conducting immunization programmes and checking of health of the pregnant women, etc.
Each sub-centre will have one regular ANM, another ANM appointed on contract basis and one female health worker.
Apart from this for ASHA (Accelerated Social Health Activist) worker appointed under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) will also be deputed in each centre, he added.
He further announced that ASHA workers will be given monthly salaries instead of giving money in the form of honorarium.
State has 3000 ASHA workers.
They are imparting health meditation awareness to the rural populace with direct contact with the people.
He also appealed the people to think that PHSCs are health check up centre located at neighbor.
While seeking corporation from the people in running the healthcare centres, the minister said that he will look into the upgradation of the sub-centre at Yaingangppokpi Bazar which was shifted from Thamnapokpi to PHC so that people of the surrounding could get 24 hour health service.
The inaugural function was also attended by director of health services, W Motilal, CMO of the Imphal east district health mission society Dr Ksh Manglem, director of family welfRE Ch Ragumani and zilla parishad member, prandhans of the area.
