Imphal, October 01:
Apart from its Church related activities and other charitable works, the Manipur Baptist Convention has also set its eyes on taking up efforts to preserve the ecology and towards this step, a tree plantation programme was held at Hongmahn village in Ukhrul district on September 30.A team of MBC volunteers went to the village and mobilized the villagers to plant trees on the hills surrounding their habitats.
The villagers came out in full strength to extend their co-operation to the endeavours of the MBC to preserve nature and save the environment from further degradation.
A functionary of the Church told The Sangai Express that the exercise was taken up with the stated objective of preserving nature and the ecological balance.
Nature is God's gift to mankind and preserving it is a manifestation to show our gratitude to the creator.
Nature also means peace, said the functionary and added that this was the message conveyed to the villagers.
