The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against shifting of Waikhong Police Station has demanded early construction/repairing of the building of Waikhong Police Station.
The JAC also warned of launching agitation if the Government failed to redress the grievances.
The JAC has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in this connection today.
The copies of the memorandum have also been submitted to Principal Secretary (Home) and DGP, Manipur.
The building of the Waikhong PS, located 84 kms from Imphal was set on fire by unidentified persons in 1999.Since then, in the absence of a proper building of the SP, all its personnel have been shifted to Kakching Police Station.
The JAC was formed in 2001 and had been opposing shifting of all the police personnel from Waikhong PS to Kakching PS.
The memorandum pointed out that the building of the Waikhong SP which has been razed to the ground following the devastating fire had been reconstructed with around Rs 2,20,000 collected from the villagers of Waikhong and Thongjao area under the initiative of Thoubal SP.
The State Government had not contributed even a single paisa in reconstruction of the building, the memorandum lamented.
Although, police personnel and other security forces have been posted at the PS, there are still many other facilities and infrastructure that need to be installed and developed, the memorandum pointed out further and drawing the attention of the Chief Minister into the matter.
The JAC also warned of launching various form of agitations if the State Government continue to neglect the PS and fail to fulfill its demand.
Cr PC clamped: Prohibitory orders under 144 Cr PC has been clamped in Langthabal Khunou area following the violent land dispute erupted between two local residents.
Issuing an order in this connection, District Magistrate of Thoubal said that the prohibitory order has been clamped as there is every likelihood of distrubing the peace and tranquility of the area.
