Pol parties urged to promote Buddhism

Bharatiya Buddhist Society Mahasangh national president Janendra Kumar has stressed the need for enhancing works of Buddhist societies to ensure oneness in the country.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, Janendra noted that Manipur is quite adaptable to Buddhist religion because of its closeness with South-East Asian countries.
Pointing out that Dr BR Ambedkar, who took prime role in framing the Constitution of the country, had taken several responsibilities for the welfare of Buddhist society, Janendra Kumar expressed his desire for inclusion of promotion of Buddhist religion in the election manifesto of the upcoming state assembly election by political parties.
He informed that Bharatiya Buddhist Society Mahasangh Manipur was also formed and Chabungbam Premchand has been elected as president while Thokchom Surjaboro Singh and Sapam Opendro will be the vice presidents.
He hoped for marching towards a united Manipur under the society in the state.
