Poppy plantation destroyed

Churachandpur, January 14 2022:
A combined team of Henglep Police, Churachandpur District Police, NAB, Divisional Forest and 1 IRB destroyed around 9 acres of poppy plants found growing in the hillocks of Teiseng near Patlen village under Tuibuong Sub-division on Friday.
According to a police report, the owners of the illegal poppy plantation are unknown.
The destruction of the poppies, estimated to be worth over Rs 63 lakh approximately, commenced from 9.30 am on Friday.
During the operation, 10 pieces of the poppy plants, which were bearing fruits, were seized in the presence of witnesses at around 10.30 am as evidence, the report conveyed.
