Ph Devan said that the candles, although a modest gift, are a symbol of peace between the hill and valley brethrens and its light will drive away the cloud of suffering and gloom in the State when they are lit for Christmas prayers tonight.
The main idea behind the gifting of candles to the Churches is to bring peace, he added.
Rev Ngamrei Zimik of Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal said that he really appreciated AMUCO for gifting candles to the Churches as a Christmas gesture and symbol of peace and added that it was the desire of the Church for the people to coexist harmoniously.
"Christmas is a big event for Christians but unfortunately, due to the tense situation prevailing in the State, many may miss celebrating Christmas at home.
Manipur Baptist Convention wants nothing more than the people of the State to live together in peace and harmony", Rev Onisima of MBC Centre church said.
He further appealed the organisation concerned to lift the economic blockade which is causing untold suffering to the people and for the State Government to bring a quick solution to the issue.
