Imphal, December 24 2016:
The proscribed RPF has greeted all the people of Manipur on the occasion of Christmas.
"You must love your neighbour as yourself, there is no other commandment greater than this", the outfit quoted while lamenting that different communities have been confronting each other in Manipur at this time of Christmas.
A statement issued by the outfit's minority affairs secretary Yumnam Shyam said that conflicts with and hatred of neighbours are against the teachings and tenets of Christianity.
RPF is a revolutionary organisation which respects all religions and it is deeply pained by the existing communal conflicts.
Whether one is a Christian or non-Christian, all the indigenous people of Manipur are known for their secular outlook.
Hatred and misunderstandings that crept up among different communities of Manipur were a result of mixing religion with politics, the outfit asserted.
The Government of India's declaration and observation of Good Friday as Judges' Day, Fathers' Day as Yoga Day and Christmas Day as Good Governance has created serious grievances and resentment among Christian population of the country, said the outfit.
This is an assault against non-Hindu population of India in line with Government of India's Indianisation campaign.
RPF strongly condemns such sectarian policy of the Government of India.
It then called upon all the people of Manipur not to let themselves fall prey to such sectarian policy of the Government of India.
Such sectarian policy of the Government of India should not be allowed to create hatred and enmity among the indigenous people of Manipur, it continued.
While praying that the Christmas festival may bring peace and harmony in Manipur, the outfit called upon all the communities to live and prosper together.
