Two associations operating under Manipur Home Guard Emplo yees' Welfare Associations have unanimously unified as one single organization following a joint session held today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Attended by various Battalion Commanders located in different districts, the joint session has resolved to unify the existing associations as one single organization.
The joint meeting also agreed to appoint Y Mangi as the president of Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Associations.
It also applauded MLA K Megh achandra and MLA Fazlur Rahim for their effort in unifying the two associations.
Addressing mediapersons after the session, Y Mangi stated that the newly unified association will work for the welfare of all home guard personnel.
The home guard personnel are utilized to their fullest extent yet no proper allowance has been provided by the State Government.
Even though there are directives from the Supreme Court to increase the allowance of the home guard personnel in par with Manipur Police or Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) personnel, the State Government has failed to take up any positive step, he said.
Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association will now work towards availing the all benefits through a more democratic form of movement, he added.
