Minorities Rights Day observed

The Manipur State Minorities Commission observed the Minorities Rights Day-2013 today at the Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission, Janab A Halim Chowdhury and Md Abdul Nasir, Minister of Agriculture; Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah, MLA Md Fajur Rahim, MLA Paonam Brojen, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, Prof MS Ningomba, member of MSMC and Rev N Debendra Singh, member of MSMC attended the function as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Although the Minorities Day was observed across the globe on December 18, the same was observed today due to some inconveniences, the president said.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that any cash incentive awarded under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt of India including students' scholarship would be directly transferred to the respective beneficiary's account and the practice of cash handling system should be abolished henceforward.
The CM also reassured that the Government would work for the upliftment of the minorities communities in days to come.
He urged all concerned to embrace peace so as to maintain peace in the State.
