Imphal, May 07 2012:
Works Minister Ratankumar has issued stringent instruction to the BRO to complete development work of Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH37) before arrival of the Monsoon season in such a manner that the public find no room to lodge any complaint.
Since becoming Works and Transport Minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar made his first official tour of Imphal-Jiribam highway today.
Not satisfied with the way the work is being implemented at certain sections of the highway, the Works Minister instructed the BRO to complete the same project before arrival of the monsoon season in such a manner that the public find no room for any complaint.
He also demanded a copy of the action plan reportedly formulated by the BRO with regard to NH 37 development work.
The Minister also inspected the Kambiron section of the highway where black-topping work was found completed.

The Works' Minister inspection team included Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah, PWD Chief Engineer, BRO officials, representatives of the Transporters' and Drivers' Council and Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) .
To a query of the Minister regarding lack of quality control, BRO officials said that the same section was black-topped in October last year but it broke up due to movement of heavy trucks.
Not satisfied with this reply, Ratankumar made it clear that the highway project should be completed before the monsoon season.
At Jiribam, the Works Minister presided an official meeting.
Before this, Ratankumar made a field assessment of the Jiri-Tipaimukh road.
