Imphal, May 07 2012:
Development and government attention is still a far cry for the villagers of Kabrang Tangkhul which rest in Sadar Hills' territory but cast their votes in Keirao A/C of Imphal East district.
Everything for this village is like a mess with its PO being Thoubal and PS at Yairipok.
With no community water tank and proper electricity facility, the village still yearns for safe drinking water and better power connectivity and other government schemes.
Situated at a distance of 25 km from Imphal, Kabrang Tangkhul village lies between Poirou and Tongma village.
The village has one aided Primary School which is run by the villagers by recruiting teachers from among the educated villagers.
Now it has at least one government teacher with the implementation of Autonomous District Council.
Frustrated over lack of attention from the government towards the development of the village, Robin Keishing Tangkhul - a villager told Hueiyen Lanpao that the villagers of Kabrang Tangkhul village are living their lives without any help from the state government till today.
Even the government is not black topping the 100 metre long inter village road which connects the village with other parts of the state, he lamented.
He further told that MLAs and Ministers from Keirao A/C have never ever paid any interest towards the village even though they voted for them in every election.
Meanwhile, newly elected MLA of the constituency Karam Thamarjit told Hueiyen Lanpao on phone that he found out that the village is not included in the map of Imphal East even though they vote in Keirao A/C. He is now looking into the matter and trying to solve the matter as soon as possible.
Even if the village remains neglected for a long time, he now will do his best to bring development in the village, the MLA assured, while adding that he had already told the department concerned of the state government to look into the matter and take up possible schemes in the village.
