Imphal, May 07 2012:
Reacting against the supportive speech of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to setting up of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the proscribed UG group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has categorically stated that NCTC is even more dreaded than the much talked AFSPA and compared the statement of the Chief Minister to throwing the people of the state into the fire from the frying pan of AFSPA.
While terming the Chief Minister as 'Zero Ibobi', in a statement, UNLF asserted that Ibobi is only trying to save his chair of Chief Ministership without even thinking about the safety and lives of the people.
Even when the Indian forces are freely carried out any activities in total violation of human rights and provisions under AFSPA, there is no reason for the NCTC to safeguard the rights of the people of the state since it can act on it own without even informing the state government.
The Indian government is taking the advantages of the global call against terrorism and putting its best efforts to show to the world that the ongoing freedom movement in the state is terrorist act sponsoring secret terrorist groups in the name of revolutionary organisations, the statement added, while cautioning the people of the state to stay aware about the facts of the proposed NCTC and the agenda of the India government.
It further called on the people of the state to raise their voice against NCTC which will hamper their normal lives more than the AFSPA.
