Ibobi meets Union Power Minister

Imphal, May 07 2012:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today called on Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at New Delhi and sought intervention and assistance of the Power Ministry to ameliorate the power situation of Manipur.
An official source informed that the Union Power Minister and the Chief Minister held a meeting at 1 pm and deliberated on the present power situation of Manipur.
Ibobi reportedly apprised the Union Minister about the measures taken up in the State, and also invited central experts to visit Manipur.
Even though the Power Ministry listened to Ibobi with keen interest, he gave no assurance.

Regarding Tipaimukh Project, Ibobi informed that the little progress can be achieved in executing the project as forest clearance and other mandatory processes have not been completed.
To this, Sushil Kumar Shinde assured that all processes would be expedited henceforth.
Principal Secretary (Power) LP Golmei was also present.
At the moment, Imphal is receiving only 3/4 hours of power supply in a day.
