Imphal, January 05 2012:
A single bench of the Gauhati High Court, Imphal bench has ruled that 11 candidates who petitioned against the result of the preliminary examination conducted by the Manipur Public Service Commission last year for the recruitment of MCS/MPS and allied services officers be provisionally allowed to appear in the Mains Examination 2011, subject to the findings of a Committee to be constituted by the Commission.
The ruling followed a petition filed by the 11 candidates contending among others that the answer keys of four questions were wrong.
Passing the verdict, the High Court ruled that the MPSC should constitute an Expert Committee to review the earlier four questions and determine the correct answers.
If any of the key answers of the four questions is corrected or changed, the MPSC should re-evaluate the answer scripts of the 11 petitioners and reassess their marks and if anyone of them obtain marks within the cut off norms then they shall be deemed to have been qualified.
However if any of the 11 petitioners are found not to have qualified for the Mains after the re-assessment, their results in the Mains would not be declared.
The Court also asked MPSC to complete the directives within three weeks and definitely before the declaration of the results of the Mains examination.
The ruling of the Court pertains only to the 11 petitioners and not to the other candidates.
