Murder accused sent to jail

Duty Magistrate, Imphal has approved police plea for remand of the five persons, including son of Sports Minister N Biren Singh, to 15 days judicial custody.
The five accused of murdering one Irom Roger and presented before the Duty Magistrate today, included the Minister's son Nongthombam Ajay Meitei (27) of Luwangsangbam Mamang Leikai, Thongbam Anilkumar alias Dhruva (27) s/o (L) Ashokumar of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai, Bachaspatimayum Roshnikumar Sharma (29) s/o Rajbihari of Brahmapur Thangapat Mapal, Puyam Sidhartha Singh (26) s/o Biren of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai and Soram Raj Singh (27) s/o S Nabakumar of Nagamapal Soram Leikai.
All five were pulled up by the police on March 20 in connection with the shooting dead of Roger and after producing them before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West the next morning they were kept in police custody till today.
As per police report, the five were involved in the killing of one irom Roger (21) of Wangkhei Angom Leikai on March 20 afternoon at near Imphal Airport, when the victim along with his four accomplices were travelling in an i-20 car.
Bullets fired from a Bolero (Storm) Jeep with tinted glass fatally wounded Roger, who succumbed before reaching the hospital.
The Jeep as well as the weapon (license gun) belonged to Ajay.
One M-20 pistol with a magazine and six live rounds, a gun license issued in the name of Ajay and the vehicle were recovered by the police.
Moreover, blood-stained shirt worn by one of Roger's friends, a half jacket and T-shirt of Ajay Meitei, as well as one empty case and a projectile have also been recovered from the spot of incident.
