Rollback blockade, urges Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has urged the organisation concerned not to block the lifeline of lakhs of people to fulfil a demand.
He was speaking at a tractor distribution function organised by Directorate of Horticulture at Sanjenthong today.
Regarding vandalization of shops owned by Mao people at Kohima and thrashing of Mao Council Kohima unit president by SAPO and SAYO volunteers, Gaikhangam said that the State Government has taken serious note of the incident.
He has discussed the matter with the Chief Minister today, Gaikhangam said.
Nobody must be allowed to attack or intimidate the people of the State for protecting their territory, he said.
Those who have encroached on the State's territory must retreat at the earliest, he said.
Gaikhangam said that it is unfortunate to disrupt movement of Mao community on NH-2 .
Regarding ATSUM's ongoing blockade, Gaikhangam said that he has instructed the DCs concerned to submit a detailed report on the loss of properties suffered during the blockade and counter-blockade.
The State Government would provide all possible assistance to the persons whose vehicles were damaged during the blockade and counter-blockade, he said.
Regarding the demands of ATSUM, Gaikhangam said that process for setting up of a Tribal Commission has reached its final stage although drafting of rules would take some more time.
He said that adequate number of teachers of higher secondary schools would be recruited once the chairman of MPSC is appointed.
Speaking on today's function, Gaikhangam stressed on the need to adopt organic farming.
Saying that farmers across the globe have stopped using chemical fertilizers, Gaikhangam said that a new technique to check soil erosion must be introduced soon.
Informing that tender process for the construction of Directorate of Horticulture building has already completed, the Deputy Chief Minister said that construction works would begin soon.
