Jiri students set to intensify stir

The four Jiribam based student bodies have decided to intensify its ongoing stir by imposing blockade along the National Highway-37 from the intervening night of Oct 23 and 24 if the authority concerned continues to ignore their demands.
Leaders of the four students' bodies�AMSU, DESAM, MSF and KSA, announced this today at a press meet here.
Meanwhile, along with pulling down of commercial goods from passenger vehicles along NH-37 as part of the ongoing economic blockade imposed by four Jiri based student bodies, unidentified persons damaged a Tata Truck loaded with crusher machine belonging to ABCI company at Leingangpokpi area here today.

Besides, transportation of items like coconut, pan, and other edibles which are associated with Ningol Chakouba festival remained stagnant due to the blockade.
The blockade also hit hard the workers of Railway line project as no essential items could reach them.
AMSU Jiri District Council, DESAM local council, MSF special branch and KSA Jiri unit have been imposing the indefinite economic blockade since midnight of Saturday to protest the alleged failure of the Govt in providing adequate teachers and infrastructure in Jiri area.
Blockade enforcers have since then began pulling down goods from passenger vehicles plying along NH-37 .
Jiribam Police have stepped up security measures at strategic points.
