Bank employees demand appointment of CEO

Urging the State Government to appoint Chief Executive Officer at the earliest, Manipur State Co-operative Bank Employees Association (MSCBEA) has warned of launching series of agitation as resolved in a general body meeting held yesterday.
A press release of MSCBEA said, as per MoU signed between Central Govt, State Govt and NABARD on June 30, 2008, a Grant of Rs 41.62 crore is to be sanctioned under the Revival Package for development of Manipur State Co-operative Bank and its PACS Ltd.
The Central Govt needed the State Govt to perform eight tasks in order to sanction the said amount.
Seven tasks have been performed by the State Govt, however, it has not performed the most important task of appointing the CEO of the Bank till date, it added.
It then stated, a Cadre Officer out of the eight applicants came for the CEO's post, called through advertisement in National and Local papers last year, has fulfilled the RBI's Fit and Proper Criteria.
After repeated appeals by MSCBEA to appoint the said Cadre Officer, Board of Management of the Bank had submitted memorandum regarding the matter to the Chief Minister and Cooperation Minister.
As per its rule, the Central Govt will not release the said amount until and unless a Professional CEO of the Bank has been appointed.
Therefore, the delay being caused by the State Govt is trying to subdue the benefits of the Package and co-operative revolution in the State, the press release read.
It also said, memorandums have been submitted to the Cooperation Minister on August 19 and October 10 this year, and the general body meeting of the Association yesterday resolved to launch wall poster campaign and release of pamphlet on October 22, observance of protest week by wearing black badge from October 22 to 28 .
Cease work strikes will be launched for one day on November 7 and 14, two-day on November 21-22, and indefinite cease work strike from December 4 onwards, informed the statement.
