Imphal, October 21 2013:
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said the electorate in the North East is looking ahead for new governance devoid of corruption at the Centre after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing the media here, BJP National Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said the time has come for the voters of NE, including Manipur to take a firm decision before the upcoming Parliamentary elections since the BJP will for sure win it and Modi will become prime minister.
"We see the people of NE are hoping for new governance that maintains transparency and devoid of corruption after the next Lok Sabha polls," said Nirmala who was here to attend a three-day BJP workers' conference.
She said her party has launched a country wide election campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha polls under the theme 'new hope and new direction' for the party will for sure come out victory in the fray.
Accusing the UPA Government at the Centre of not coordinating well with the state Government of Manipur, she said the Centre never bothers what the state government is doing here.
Flanked by Th Chaoba, president, state unit of the party, the BJP Spokesperson further said she had visited Loktak Lake during her maiden trip to the state but no improvement could be seen in the lake because the Okram Ibobi led Congress Government has already embezzled a huge amount of Rs 220 crore meant for clearance of phumdi (floating biomass) from the lake.
She alleged the Ibobi Government which came to power since 2002 is still unable to distribute PDS items to the people of the state in proper way and due to this, there is hunger while large quantity of food grains are left to get rotten in the godowns.
Nirmala also assured that she will seek the attention of the party's Central leadership on all the issues and challenges of the state and focus them in the national media as well.
