Chief Minister O Ibobi, who also holds the MAHUD portfolio today informed the House during question hour that the first floor of the three women market sheds will not be leased out as shopping plots to anyone.
Answering a question raised by Mayang Imphal AC MLA M Nilachandra, the Chief Minister said that no shops will be allowed to come up on the first floor of the three market sheds adding that the centre of the first floor will be covered by a transparent sheet to provide natural light to the ground floor.
The sides will be utilised to build the basic amenities of the women vendors, he added.
To another query raised by Thangmeiband AC MLA Meinam Bhorot, the CM said that the total number of licensed women vendors at the three market place is 3901, with Laxmi bazar accounting for 840, Linthoinganbi 1253 and Purana bazar 1808.All the women vendors will be housed at the market shed which has come up at premise of the Old District Hospital pending the completion of the construction of the market complex, added the Chief Minister.
The area given to each licence holders is 3X4, said the Chief Minister and added that the same size would be given to each woman vendor at the temporary market shed at the Old District Hospital.
To another question from M Bhorot, the Chief Minister said that the earlier plan of converting the basement of the market complex to parking lots has been shelved following some opposition.
Now the basement will serve as some sort of a godown for the women vendors, he added.
On the shopkeepers who will be displaced by the flyover at BT road, the Chief Minister said that the earlier plan was to provide them alternative sites on the first floor of the market complex for the women vendors but that has been shelved and now the affected shop keepers will be housed at the shopping complex which is being planned at the premises of the Old District Hospital.
Ex-gratia: To a question raised by Sekmai AC MLA N Biren, the Chief Minister said that the pending ex-gratia case from 1994-95 till 1999-2000 is 51.The Govt has taken up the necessary process to dispose off the pending cases, he added.
The pending cases include 45 from CCpur, two from Imphal West and one each from Imphal East, Thoubal and Senapati.
Zero hour: Keishamthong AC MLA drew the attention of the Assembly, Govt and the FCS Dept to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that the monthly quota of kerosene oil given to printing press of newspaper houses is revived.
