Imphal, March 18:
FPM MLA from Singjamei AC I Hemochandra today took the SPF Government to task for the inordinate delay in declaring the result of the 4th IRB for which all the necessary tests and DPC have been conducted to recruit 566 riflemen.
Raising a call attention motion in the morning session of the ongoing Budget session today, Hemochandra questioned the wisdom of allowing candidates from other States to participate in the recruitment rally instead of giving the employment opportunities to the youth of Manipur.
Going into the specifics, the MLA said that the instruction from the Union Home Ministry was to conduct the test within the State on regional basis.
However, according to the notifications issued by the respective DGP for the recruitment of the 3rd and 4th IRB, candidates from outside the State were allowed to participate in the recruitment rally.
Such a policy robbed the Opportunity of a good number of youth from the State to get some meaningful employment with the Govt, asserted the MLA and reminded the House that the Home Dept is the only avenue through which the educated unemployed youth of Manipur can get employment.
The MLA made it clear that it is not a good policy at all to throw open the door of employment avenue to people of other States, while the State is shackled with the growing problem of unemployment.
Replying to the motion raised by the MLA, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the State Govt is leaving no stones unturned to declare the results of the recruitment rally of the 4th IRB.
Setting the record straight, the Chief Minister said that there is no question of any lapses in conducting the recruitment tests of the riflemen.
However the result has been kept on hold due to some legal wrangling, he added.
Elaborating, the Chief Minister said that the result could not be announced earlier, as a number of candidates who had earlier passed the fitness test for recruitment of 240 riflemen in the MR during the time of W Nipamacha, but were not absorb as the DPC was not held, had filed a case that they should be made to appear for the DPC for the 4th IRB without going through the physical fitness test.
The Court then issued a directive that the result of the 4th IRB recruitment test should be announced only after obtaining the clearance from the Court though there was no restriction on the recruitment process, said Ibobi.
At the moment the Govt is consulting a number of legal experts to dispose off the case and pave the way for the announcement of the result, informed the Chief Minister.
