Awareness programmes on COVID-19 continue

In view of the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the State and to sensitise people about the disease, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) continued to organise awareness campaigns at various locations of the State.
Dr RK Nimai, (Retd IAS) secretary of IRCS Manipur; Narendra Ningomba, chairman of IRCS Imphal East; Dr L Manglem, joint secretary IRCS; A Nabachandra Singh, vice chairman of IRCS Imphal East and L Amarnath, OC, Lamsang attended one of such awareness campaign held at Phumlou Keroi Ebudhou Koubru community hall today as presidium members.
During the awareness programme held with strict observation of SOP guidelines, the locals were made aware of what the disease, the virus causing it, how it is spread and ways to stop it from transmitting.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr RK Nimai also stressed on the roles and activities that volunteers of local clubs and Meira Paibi members can take up to ensure safety and wellbeing of all.
A Nabachandra, on the other hand, pointed out the do's and don'ts for quarantine centre volunteers apart from highlighting ways on how an inmate can provide psychosocial support to other inmates.
Premjit Naoroibam in the meantime demonstrated how to use face masks and proper ways to sanitize hands.
State unit IRCS, later joined People's Task Force for COVID-19 to organise a similar campaign at Kangabam Leikai today.
CADA sensitises people on COVID-19
Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) organised an awareness cum sensitisation programme on COVID-19 at Wabagai Mayai Leikai Community Hall, Kakching district today.
The programme was held in association with Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Educated Youth Multipurpose Development Association (EYMDA); Wabagai Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, said a statement of CADA today.
Hijam Priyokumar, president, CADA; Moirangthem (O) Sanatombi, secretary general, Thoubal Ima; Waikhom Robita, vice president, Wabagai Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup; Waikhom Deben, vice president, EYMDA; Mayengbam Brojendro, president, Tripan Marup and Waikhom Ningthouren, president, Purnima Marup attended the event.
Geetchandra Mangang, secretary general, CADA and its president Hijam Priyokumar spoke at the event as resource persons.
They appealed to people to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines by wearing face masks, washing hands with soap and maintaining physical/social distance.
They also appealed people not to stigmatise COVID-19 patients, healthcare workers and conceal their COVID-19 status and suspected symptoms.
