Farmers' association cleans Senapati public cemetery

Senapati, September 13 2020:
The Taphou Area Multi-Agri & Livestock Farming Society, Senapati in collaboration with the Karong Senapati Town Committee organised social service at a public cemetery situated at Taphou.
The volunteers cleaned the surrounding areas of the cemetery and also cut tall grasses there.
The upper portion of the cemetery is reportedly reserved for burial and the lower portion of the cemetery for cremation.
President of the society, VS Joseph Vemai asserted that the social service was taken up as a remembrance of the dead.
Town Committee chairman, A John expressed gratitude to the concerned society for cleaning the public cemetery.
The public cemetery was built when T Pamei, IAS was the DC of the district.
It was reportedly reserved for people who could not take the dead body to their locality and for those who don't have proper land to bury the dead.
With the coming of the pandemic, the District Administration and the town committee had earlier decided to bury the dead of COVID-19 patients that are unclaimed at a portion of the cemetery, however, the town committee there is no death from Covid-19 in the district so far.
Meanwhile, the Youth Brigade of the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch voluntarily came and distributed face masks and hand sanitizers to all participants with the message to maintain SOPs laid down during this unlock-4 .
