Moreh, September 13 2020:
The Government order dated September 11, which directed removal of structures close to Moreh ICP bypass road on or before September 25 drew flak from landowners.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held yesterday at Shijang Veng, Moreh, chairman of Moreh ICP Bypass Road Structures Committee, Holpao Baite said that the structures will not be removed unless an understanding is reached between landowners concerned and the Tengnoupal DC.
The structures were built to run families peacefully and not for selling, he said adding issuing order directly without consulting the structure and landowners concerned is condemnable.
"Though the committee has expressed their opinions on the matter to the DC via a memorandum on September 7 last, issuing an order which is opposite to the submitted memorandum is unfortunate," he added.
"If an understanding is not reached between Tengnoupal DC and the and landowners concerned by September 20, the committee will launch an agitation from the following day," Holpao Baite cautioned.
He also demanded the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
"Dismantling houses or any structures without taking due approval from the owners would be akin to undermining the very democratic principle of this country," he added.
On the other hand, a team of officials from NHIDCL and Electricity Department who came to survey ICP bypass road was stopped from performing the task, today.
Holpao Baite stated that the survey should be carried only after an agreement is reached between the DC and structure and landowners concerned.
