Imphal, March 13:
Refuting the claims of Assam rifles authorities that Maibam Anand alias Ibomcha, who was slain on March 12 night at Waithou, was a PLA cadre, the RPF has clarified that contact between the organisation and Anand had snapped since the middle part of 2003.Conceding that Anand had joined PLA in 2000, chief of department of communication and publicity N Wangba informed that due to Anand's inability to stick to discipline of the armed outfit the individual had severed all ties from the year 2003.While the RPF/PLA was itself unable to trace the whereabouts of Anand since 2003 and subsequently severed all links, involvement of Anand in extortion activities posing as member of a particular group was conveyed to RPF by the said group, insisted Wangba.
Moreover, RPF/PLA received information that Anand had established contact with security forces and was working against the interest of the revolutionary movement, it added.
Maintaining that AR authorities claiming the deceased Anand to be a sergeant major of the PLA is ridiculous and an attempt to project RPF and its armed wing in a bad light as the security force could not face the challenge of the outfit, the statement contended that Anand was murdered as his (anand) service was not necessary any more.
Highlighting that some militant groups after allowing expelled RPF/PLA members into their fold have the tendency to disown such individuals after exploiting them to the optimum, Wangba urged other UG groups against entertaining entry of RPF/PLA members whose moral conduct is unsuitable to the struggle.
Admitting them protrays a wrong image RPF/PLA, it added.
