The JAC Against the Suspicious Death of Mrs Shangkhu w/o Chandrika Shahani has announced its third-phase of the agitation in pursuance of the demand for instituting a judicial inquiry into the death of the woman patient in the maternity ward of RIMS due to alleged negligence of the doctors.
The third phase of the agitation that was announced by the JAC include social boycott of RIMS Director Dr L Fimate, its Superintendent Mohen and doctor concerned Binodkumari with immediate effect from tomorrow, to exert pressure for taking up the issue during the Assembly session which scheduled to begin from March 16, to organise mass public rally in Greater Imphal area during the period of the Assembly session along with Wakat Meephams and public meetings in connection with the issue all over the State.
In a statement made available to the press, JAC convenor Dominic Kasouwa informed that the decision of launching the third-phase of the agitation has been arrived at during a joint meeting of the constituent members of JAC namely AMSU, NIPCO, UPF, Nupi Samaj, Tammi-Chingmi, AMKIL, ZYF, KAMA and MSU.
The JAC has been constraint to take the decision of launching the third phase of the agitation with more intensify as the State Government remained indifferent to the demand for instituting a judicial inquiry to find out the truth even as the RIMS authority has exculpated the guilty doctors with complete disregard to the sentiments of the people assuming that the Chief Minister is on their side, the statement said.
