Manipur Tourism woos tour operators

'Manipur Tourism' - a team of State Tourism department officials - is said to have wooed several tour agencies around the world to set foot in the State through its brand campaign 'Magnificent Manipur' in the 19th South Asian Travel and Tourism Exchange held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during February 10-12. In an endeavour to promote Manipur as an important tourism destination for inbound tourists, Manipur Tourism participated in the 19th South Asian Travel and Tourism Exchange, according to a statement issued by State Tourism Commissioner, KK Chhetry, who is presently in New Delhi.
Manipur Tourism was led by KK Chhetry, along with officials of the State Tourism Department including Deputy Director, Dr K Shyamsunder; Tourist Officer L Ibochoubi and SO Saichhingpuii.
"All tour operators acknowledged the significance of Manipur in the overall growth of tourism industry of India and have agreed in principal to include Manipur in their itineraries," Chhetri said.
The tourism exchange programme is participated by more than 30 countries including Turkey, Thailand, South Korea, Philippines, Fiji, UAE, Greece, etc.
Around 100 travel and hospitality companies took part in the exchange of buyers and sellers of attractive tourism products.'Manipur Tourism did an aggressive campaign to promote the brand "Magnificent Manipur" and has close interaction with various tour managers, hospitality companies and eco-adventure industries,' KK Chhetry said.The Lalit Suri Group of Companies has shown keen interest in promoting polo and hotels and it will come out to the Government with a concrete plan, it added.Cox and Kings was particularly enthusiastic and declared to increase Japanese tourists for pilgrimage related tourism to Manipur.
Mystic Mountain Pvt Ltd, one of the largest private sector adventure tourism companies, agreed to establish a package deal for adventure tourists to Manipur.
'Manipur Tourism would tirelessly continue to act to make Manipur a World Class tourism destination, Chhetry affirmed.
