NWU prayers for NSCN-IM leader Anthony Ningkhan Shimray

Close on the heels of the Naga Women's Union (NWU) imposing a two-hour public curfew on February 9 and a 12-hour Ukhrul district bandh in line with the call given by the Naga civil society organisations on February 11 demanding the immediate release of Anthony Ningkhan Shimray, head of foreign affairs of the NSCN (IM), all Naga Churches held a special prayer for his release and the Naga peace process today.A statement issued by the President of NWU, Aram Pamei asserted that all the agitations were held for the immediate and unconditional release of the detained NSCN (IM) leader.
Aram Pamei further informed that a chain of sit-in-protests would also be organised in all the Naga districts from tomorrow to press for the immediate release of Anthony Shimray.
Anthony Shimray was arrested by NIA at Kathmandu Airport enroute to New Delhi from Bangkok in September 2010.Yesterday a bandh was also imposed in Ukhrul to demand the release of the arrested rebel leader.
