Training programme on Human Rights concludes

A two-day training programme on Human Rights organised by Human Rights and Duties Education, Manipur under the sponsorship of National Human Rights Commission concluded at Manipur Police Training Academy, Pangei today.
Speaking on the topic of "Human Trafficking for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation and Combating the Legal Framework" on the last day of the training programme, L Birbabu, Commandant, 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles observed that Human Trafficking itself is a very complex phenomenon, only after we are aware of what exactly is human trafficking, we will be able to find out where these cases normally take place and what measures should be taken up to control it.
He further stated that human trafficking is an act where an individual is duped and taken to a different place on the pretext of giving good jobs by a trafficker.
In the act not only the rights of the individual is curtailed but the physical body is also sold out by the trafficker.
Human trafficking is not only carried out by a single individual but could also involve a group of people.
Even though Act has been passed by the Indian government to prevent human trafficking, the authorities concerned have not been able to control the cases of human trafficking in the state, he added.
The valedictory function of the training programme was graced by Clay Khongsai, DIG (HQS) and Special Secretary (Home), Dr M Suresh Kumar, Centre for Human Rights and Duties Education, MU and S Kangjapao Ngaite, MPS Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
