Consequent upon a directive of the Supreme Court, the High Court of Manipur will hold hearing of the election petition filed by former IAS officer P Saratchandra against YAS and Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Mairembam Prithviraj regarding latter's alleged wrong mentioning of educational qualification in the election affidavits on November 17 .
Mention may be made that the Supreme Court had directed the High Court of Manipur to dispose the case before the end of February next year after the hearing of the case was adjourned by the High Court for 38 times in the past three years.
In his election petition filed at the High Court, P Saratchandra said that Prithviraj allegedly provided wrong information in the election affidavits of the State Assembly by-election held in 2009 and State Assembly general election held in 2012 .
Prithviraj allegedly claimed that he is an MBA of Mysore University of 2004 batch, Saratchandra's petition alleged.
He also puts his qualification as MBA (Human Resource) on the website of Manipur Assembly , the petition said.
It may also be mentioned that Moirang AC witnessed a straight fight between Prithviraj and Saratchandra in the last State Assembly election held in 2012 .
After Prithviraj came out victorious, he was sworn in as the Parliamentary Secretary of YAS and Tourism in the Okram Ibobi led Congress Government.
