The Nimita Devi Nritya Asgram (NDNA) today celebrated its third foundation day today at the Kalimai Mandov of the 1st Manipur Rifles with entertainment programmes.
N Khelchandra, padmashree award winner graced the formal inaugural function of the celebration as chief guest and presided over by RK Tarachand, president of NDNA.
Additional Director of Police, N Shyamananda, IPS, DC of Imphal West District K Radhakumar, IAS and Chief Whip of the government MLA T Mangibabu attended as guests of honour.
Other noted persons in the field of art and culture, Padmashree award winners G Gourakishore, S Thanil, Y Gambhini and Ksh Thourani, Guru E Indira of Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, awardee of Sangeet Natak Akademi L Lakpati also attended as special invitees of the function.
The function was opened with offering of floral tributes to the photograph of late Guru Amubi.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest N Khelchandra recalled the Ashram was founded to spread the rich art and culture across the globe and with the objective of preserving it for the future generation and called for people support in successful running of the Ashram.
The founder of the Ashram, Nirmita was famous as Krishna shaba and which her tireless efforts, the ashram is running successfully by producing various famous art presentations.
ADGP, N Shyamananda said that he was satisfied with the production of many artistes.
They had performed various programmes in the country as well outside the country.
And such performance will also be produced in the future, he hopes.
In the morning session of the function was marked by resource persons talking on different topics.
G Gourakishore talks on "Co-relation of Manipuri Dance and Meitei Martial Arts, S Thanil on "Original and Movement of Khubak Eshei", L Lakpati on "Origin and Movement of Natt Sankritan and Ksh Thourani on "Origin of Raj Leela and its movement".
In the concluding session of the celebration was marked by presentation of Dance Avatar by a student of the Ashram and scholarship recipient of CCRT Young Talents Search Scholarship Holder, Ch Sushma Devi marital arts by the artistes of the Hueiyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, pung cholom of Shree Shree Govindajee Natt Sankritan Akademi, Lai Haroaba by students of E Indira, Khubak Eshei by Kh Yaimabi and her party, Natt Sankritan by L Lakpati and his party and Basanta Raj by students of NDNA.
