Imphal, August 02 2010:
Alleging anomalies in the process of admission of students in MA first year under some Departments in Manipur University, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has warned of action against these Departments if the anamalies were not rectified.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at its office here today evening, MSF president L Ibomcha asserted that in the Adult Education Department, a candidate who secured higher marks has been omitted in favour of another candidate who secured less mark for admission under one reserved seat for sportspersons.
Apart from giving due weightage to candidates who have NCC C-certificate and participated in NSS activities, there should also be relaxation for two marks.
However, all these rules have not been reflected in the merit list, he said.
He further pointed out in Education Department, one OBC seat in the waiting list of Education Department has been lost.
Out of the six reserved seats, six SC candidates passed in the entrance.
Out of them, three of them have been included in the unreserved category.
Thus, three reserved seats have been lost and candidates who secured less mark have been selected instead of those securing higher marks, he alleged.
Similarly in the English Department, a candidate possessing an out-dated certificate has been selected against the unreserved seat for sports and extra-curriculam activities, Ibomcha said, while seeking the co-operation and support of the people to ensure rectification of these anomalies.
