Lamka, August 02 2010:
Churachandpur District Students Union has set August 4 as the deadline for the law enforcing agencies to apprehend the two individuals who attacked its leaders and volunteers, reports our correspondent.
A union release said that they cannot and will never understand why the Imphal bound bus drivers, conductors and handymen attacked them on July 29 while enforcing the COPTAM/CDSU bandh.
"We made no demand to the locality of Phougakchao Ikhai, and they were not the appropriate agency to grant the demands put forward by CoPTAM", it maintained and questioned the reason behind targeting them.
Fanning communal bigotry while attempting to merge the locality into Bishnupur will never be materialised, it added.
Identifying the two accused as Sanathoi, s/o Bina, and Tomba, s/o Kulachandra, both residents of Kangvai, the release even went on claiming that Sanathoi is an Army personnel attached with 9 Assam Regiment.
