Imphal, August 02 2010:
The understanding arrived between UCM and various transport bodies regarding 35 percent hike of passenger fare would be implemented from August 3 .
It was arrived in a meeting held on July 17 last and proposed earlier to implement the same from July 19, said a press release of UCM.
But it was not fully enforced as some transport agencies did not follow the agreement.
It may be mentioned that various transport bodies abruptly hiked the fare due to shortage of fuel after the blockade called by Naga bodies.
After listening to the complaints of the general public, the UCM in a meting held today with transport bodies decided to increase 35 pc in fare.
Saying that the same would be implemented in auto fares operating in greater Imphal area as well, UCM urged the transporters to strictly follow the agreement.
Fifty percent reduction of fare for students must also be implemented from August 3 .
