Following conspicuous absence of renovation works of the Govindajee Temple located inside the Kangla Fort in the "Kangla Conceptual Plan" prepared by Prof Nalini Thakur, the State Govt has intimated the Central Govt urging it to look into the matter and make the necessary changes.
Talking to The Sangai Express, an official of the Art and Culture Department informed that the Central Govt has not released any funds required for renovating the Govindajee temple despite strong pressure from the State Govt.He however added that Kangla Fort Board Temple members having learnt of non-inclusion of development of the Govindajee temple in the Plan have handed over the renovation works to the "International Conservation of Monument" and renovation works have already begun in the right manner.
Informing that the State Govt too has not released any fund for renovating the Govindajee temple, the official said that the Rs 5 crores released by the Centre for the Development of Kangla had also lapsed in March 2004.
