As part of the ongoing agitation to demand for implementation of Meetei Mayek script in schools 11 volunteers of DESAM were court arrested for protesting near the CM�s official bungalow at around 2.15 pm today.
Led by the student body�s deputy organisation secretary the slogan shouting agitators comprising of three females were stopped from reaching the CM�s gate and herded near the Imphal Post Office from where they were picked up by a police team.
So far 47 DESAM activists have been detained ever since the student organisation joined the agitation launched by MEELAL.
Meelal condemns: Tamenglong branch of Meetei Mayek agitation spearhead MEELAL has expressed strong resentment at the stance adopted by ANSAM to disallow the ongoing stir reverberate in the hill district areas.
It is pertinent to mention that ANSAM dissociating itself from the MEELAL stir in demand for conversion of Bengali script text books into Meetei Mayek also called upon all concern to abstain from agitating in the hill district areas in connection with the demand.
