Imphal, March 31:
The Assam Rifles authorities have said that the news item published in local newspapers on March 31 alleging Assam Rifles of joining hands with NSCN (IM) cadres during the latter's encounter with UNLF at Wangli village on March 25 is totally false and baseless.
In a press handout (PIB DW), the statement said that such news items are published by UG outfits in an effort to undermine the good work being done by AR in maintaining law and order in the State.
It said the security force pressed in counter insurgency operation is carrying out tasks with a clear aim to provide a secure environment to facilitate the smooth functioning of the state machinery.
