Imphal, March 31:
The 19th party congress of Communist Party of India (CPI) has taken resolution on maintaining the territorial boundaries of the North Eastern States and on starting political dialogues with the militant forces of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
The six-day long congress which began on March 29 at Dharshan Singh Canadian Nagar, Chandigarh urged upon the Union Government not to concede to the demand of greater Nagalim and disturbed the present boundaries of the North Eastern States.
The Congress took serious note of the map of Nagalim or Greater Nagaland presented by NSCN (IM) to the Union Government which comprised four districts of Manipur, a large areas of Sivsagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Districts of Assam as well as Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh in the name of bringing all Naga inhabited areas under one administrative unit.
The congregation strongly felt that if the Government of India concedes some of the territories of these three States, peace in the region might vanish with serious consequence.
On the other hand, it would be a violation of the provisions of Common Minimum Programme of the UPA Government, the resolution said while pointing that the CMP clearly says that the existing boundaries of the North Eastern States are to be kept intact.
One the need for political dialogues with militant forces, the congress maintained that the States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland has been seriously affected during to militant activities.
