Assam Rifles observes anti-drug day

Khoupum and Loktak battalions of Assam Rifles organised vehicle-based awareness drives in various remote villages of Khoupum valley and Sendra starting from June 24 to Saturday in connection with the observance of International Day against Drug Abuse.
According to PRO IGAR (South), the awareness drive was organised to generate awareness amongst the locals about the harmful effects of drug abuse on human body and society.
The interrelation of drugs and crime and the root cause of the spread of various diseases were also adequately briefed to the villagers.
In another release, the PRO informed that Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri conducted various online activities and competitions to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at various locations on Saturday.
The online activities were aimed to educate the young students about the ill effects of drugs, guide them live a healthy life and encourage them in adopting various sports.
During the online event, drawing, essay and slogan writing competitions were also organised with the participation of both adults and children of various age groups.
Anti-drug posters, video clips and messages on drug abuse were also circulated to school children via online media, the release informed.
