Imphal, December 09 2021:
Locals of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai along with people from different parts of Keirao assembly constituency staged sit-in protest on Thursday decrying the bomb threat to Md Nasiruddin, son of ex-MLA late Md Allauddin Khan.
According to United Clubs Coordinating Committee secretary general Md Ahmad Ali, a bomb was planted at the gate of intending candidate Nasiruddin along with a threat note asking him not to contest the 2022 state assembly election.
India is a democratic country and the committee demands clarification behind the threat and restrictions on contesting election imposed on Nasiruddin.
The threat note did not mention any organisation or name, he said and appealed to whoever is involved not to repeat such acts in future.
Md Nasiruddin also condemned the bomb threat and said that violence has no place in democracy.
The public elect the candidate by acting on their understanding and threatening a candidate cannot defeat a candidate.
Nasiruddin also clarified that there was a report of a man from Kyamgei assembly constituency, whose name is same with him, joining Apna Dal (S) recently but he is not related with the report.
