AR promotes fitness, celebrates Humanitarian Day

Imphal, August 19 2021:
Chandel Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a cycle rally to promote Fit India Movement and celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in collaboration with Imphal and Chandel cycling clubs on Thursday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the cycle rally was flagged off from Chandel and covered 130 km along the Chandel-Kakching-Thoubal-Kangla Fort route, culminating at Modi village in Chandel district.
In all, 50 cyclists including 40 members of the local cycle clubs participated in the event.
The cyclists passed through prominent places and halted in remote villages to spread awareness on India's Independence movement as well as Fit India Movement, the PRO said.
The team also halted at Sehlon en route and Assam Rifles felicitated one Lamhoi Haokip, wife of ex-Azad Hind Fauj soldier (late) Solet Haokip to acknowledge his contribution in India's freedom movement, the PRO said.
On the other hand, Churachandpur Sector of IGAR (South) celebrated World Humanitarian Day with locals of remote villages in Churachandpur, Noney and Bishnupur districts on Thursday.
As a part of the event, ration, essential commodities and Covid relief items were distributed to the orphanages and old age homes located in remote areas, informed the PRO in another release, adding that the locals expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Assam Rifles.
