Imphal, December 17 2021:
Intending candidate in Wangkhei assembly constituency Arunkumar Thangjam has called for developing border villages in order to protect the state's territory effectively.
Attending as chief guest of the Ningol Ningtham Khudol', an event to honour women of Wangkhei AC ward No.22 organised by Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khunou on Friday, Arunkumar said that the state is facing border issue and one of the effective ways to resolve it would be bringing development in the border villages and towns.
Apart from the government, CSOs and NGOs also have major roles to play in bringing development in remote areas, he said.
While noting that the state is rich in natural resources, the intending candidate said proper and effective mobilisation would help in utilising these resources to bring economic development in the state.
It will also help in improving tourism sector and bring self-reliance.
On the other hand, the state is making huge contribution to the country in terms of sports, art & culture, and education.
Educated youth should find innovative ways to become job creator and job provider instead of running after government jobs only, he said.
Arunkumar also said that Wangkhei assembly constituency is one of the most backward constituencies despite being situated in the heart of Imphal city.
There are several poor families in the constituency, who need support and guidance, he stated and confided that he took the decision of contesting the election to serve them and improve their living status.
He further affirmed that if elected he will chalk out long term plans to improve condition of the roads and drainage system by consulting experts instead of carrying out minor repairing of roads and cleaning drains at the time of election .
