Imphal, December 17 2021:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has cautioned of launching intense agitations if the final report of the enquiry being conducted against the principal of Dhanamanjuri College of Teacher Education (DMCTE) is not made public by December 21 .
Addressing a press meet held at its office here on Friday, AMSU general secretary Thongabam Bikramjit recounted that on September 23, the deputy secretary of Higher and Technical Education issued an order removing the principal of DMCTE based on a public complaint over the admission process and appointed a new teacher as the look-after.
He continued: "Shortly after, a 3-member enquiry committee was constituted to investigate the charges against' the ex-principal on September 24, as per an order issued by the director of Education (U) .
Moreover, around 91 students had completed the admission process for pursuing B Ed course for the academic session 2021-2023, and only 9 seats were left to be filled".
"On December 6, the third and final report of the Enquiry Committee was submitted to the department concerned.
However, no follow-up action has been taken in the matter, which, in turn, is putting the academic career of the students at stake as they have to submit the scholarship forms before the last date which is on December 31," he conveyed.
Demanding authority and department concerned to make the report public by December 21 and help in restoring the academic atmosphere; Bikramjit recalled that AMSU had previously reminded the government on the matter through media on November 18.As such, Bikramjit cautioned of launching intense agitations with the support of students in case the authorities could not resolve the matter by Deceniber 21 and the government will be responsible for the resulting consequences.
A memorandum in this regard has been forwarded to the education minister, commissioner and director of Education (U), he added.
