Bank employees stage sit-in protest

Churachandpur, December 17 2021:
Under the aegis of United Forum of Bank Unions, staffers of State Bank of India, Churachandpur branch, Bank of Baroda, UCO, IDBI and Canara banks jointly staged a sit-in in front of the Churachandpur SBI office, Tedim road, in support of the two-day countrywide strike on December 16 & 17 .
The bank staffers demanded strengthening of public sector banks and opposed privatisation of banks and Banking Reforms Bill 2021 .
Talking to this correspondent, State Bank of India officers' Association executive member Thanggoulian Guite affirmed that they will continue to oppose the government's move to privatise banks, stating that banks are for mass banking.
"They are against cor-porates to buy banks and privatise them.
Such move will lead to class banking and the public will suffer as 70 per cent Indians live in rural areas," he added.
